Obviously problematic elements aside, I've read this about a hundred times because ScaBeri is one of my favourite BL mangaka。 To her credit I think she deals with the problematic elements in a yakuza/gangster setting pretty decently but Jackass is still my favourite! This was DARK。 There were a couple really intense abuse scenes that made me gag a little bit。 I want more Tatsuyuki!

I’ve read all the current volumes of Jealousy, so I pretty much was familiar with everyone in Fourth Generation Head。 I still wasn’t ready to see Tatsuyuki all grown up 🥲 Love the relationship he’s found with his childhood acquaintance, it seems as though they bring out the best in each other。 If I’m being honest, I found Rogi to be so annoying in this one, I want to know what happened to him to cause him to be this way。 I believe Jealousy volume 4 ( August Release) is a direct prequel to , this I’ve read all the current volumes of Jealousy, so I pretty much was familiar with everyone in Fourth Generation Head。 I still wasn’t ready to see Tatsuyuki all grown up 🥲 Love the relationship he’s found with his childhood acquaintance, it seems as though they bring out the best in each other。 If I’m being honest, I found Rogi to be so annoying in this one, I want to know what happened to him to cause him to be this way。 I believe Jealousy volume 4 ( August Release) is a direct prequel to , this manga。 So I’m even more excited to see what messy stuff goes down ! 。。。more

Tohle mě fakt bavilo! Převrácený seme, uke trope。 Vztah byl trošku uspěchaný, a sexuálnímu násilí jsme se úplně taky nevyhli。 Možná je to mým momentálním naladěním, ale jinak mě tahle jednohubka opravdu potěšila。

I feel a little weird saying this, but this was actually really cute! Not like the yakuza elements and stuff, but the romance between Tatauyuki and Nozomi? A remarkably interesting story given the amount of explicit, X-rated sex in this manga。 Tatsuyuki is, as the title states, the future 4th generation leader of the Oyamato yakuza family syndicate, destined to take over after his father。 Thing is, he’s not interested in being yakuza。 He has more pressing problems, like trying to figure out his sexuality。After a failed, drunken attempt to prove his heterosexuality with a sex worker, he passes out on a park bench。 Enter Nozomi Kaga, tall, stro A remarkably interesting story given the amount of explicit, X-rated sex in this manga。 Tatsuyuki is, as the title states, the future 4th generation leader of the Oyamato yakuza family syndicate, destined to take over after his father。 Thing is, he’s not interested in being yakuza。 He has more pressing problems, like trying to figure out his sexuality。After a failed, drunken attempt to prove his heterosexuality with a sex worker, he passes out on a park bench。 Enter Nozomi Kaga, tall, strong and as pretty as a girl。 Nozomi scoops him off the bench and back to his flat, where, of course, an intense night of passion follows。But another yakuza, Rogi, creepily a former lover of Tatsuyuki’s father, has layed a trap。 Tarsuyuki ends up being violently raped by Rogi as a way of attacking Tatsuyuki’s father。 But Nozomi, who was sexually abused by his own father, is determined to find Tatsuyuki before it's too late。Oh, my, Freudians would have a field day plying their medieval claptrap with this story! In perfect manga form, the melodrama is off the charts。 But what makes it work is 1) the way Beriko resolves the story, 2) the rather incredible visual storytelling, and 3) the way Beriko plays with gender tropes。Nozomi has all the visual codes and backstory that fit a uke, or passive bottom, character。 Yet he’s taller, stronger, and in some ways more logical and rational than Tatsuyuki。 Tatsuyuki, the tough yakuza heir, would seem to be the best choice for the seme, or top。 But he’s a masculine bottom through and through, taking abuse and pain while looking his rapist in the eye - and is still able to accept Nozomi’s physical affections afterwards。 It’s a spot on example of the gender play identified in this genre in Yoko’s A Theory of Yaoi Fiction (2005)。Beriko is also a crisp storyteller, moving the plot along and assuming the reader will catch up and fill in the gaps (which all become clear, eventually)。 Along the way, she plays with her readers with funny asides, sound effects and super-deformed takes that highly entertaining。Finally, sometimes I just cringe at the way Beriko draws silver of her characters。 It’s probably my early training as a portrait painter, but would it kill her to make a mouth a fraction of a millimeter shorter or higher? Of course realusm isn't the point - it's expressing emotional intensity and honesty in the characters, and on that score, Beriko is amazing。 She's not my favorite Yaoi artist, but that doesn't stop me from being gobsmacked by her work。 Her contours alone convey solid three dimensional forms; following the way she draws fingers, you “feel” the plane breaks even though she doesn't provide any other visual data (a number of manga artists do this, but she’s quite good at it)。 The visual pacing is impressive, too - she effortlessly captures the drama of a movie, pulling you in with her pacing, expressive line work, and values。 。。。more

Art is stunning and I did enjoy the story but boy did this need some content warnings for noncon & dubcon。 Rest under the spoiler(view spoiler)[The relationship developed so fast that it felt very instalove and that made Tatsuyuki decision RE Rogi a bit odd as he did it to save Nozomi but they barely knew each other。 I also find it hard to believe that Nozomi would have spent his entire life making himself better for a kid he met for ten minutes and stayed in love with him all that time。 That al Art is stunning and I did enjoy the story but boy did this need some content warnings for noncon & dubcon。 Rest under the spoiler(view spoiler)[The relationship developed so fast that it felt very instalove and that made Tatsuyuki decision RE Rogi a bit odd as he did it to save Nozomi but they barely knew each other。 I also find it hard to believe that Nozomi would have spent his entire life making himself better for a kid he met for ten minutes and stayed in love with him all that time。 That all being said, once we got a bit of growth to them, Tatsuyuki and Nozomi did have some cute moments。 I would have preferred more time spent on that and less on the situation with Rogi。 Also, his history with the Doctor is never actually explained so。。。I had no idea what the significance was outside of what was explained on the back of the manga! I bought this basically for the smut but I actually ended up getting a very deep story and I enjoyed it。 I would have to warn that there are some triggers but if you want a well-told smut story with a good plot, I would recommend this。

Well this took me forever to finish reading lol。 Not because it wasn’t interesting (it was very interesting) but I was busy with work so yeah。 Final I’m done reading it, now it’s time for me to read Jealousy <3。 I enjoyed all the smut this manga had。 Can’t wait to read Jealousy next。

While I loved the main story of the book, the non-con and dub-con really wasn't necessary and I downgraded it for that reason。The story has a lot of violence, non-con and dub-con, and yakuza-related violence, with some historical child abuse and familial sexual abuse。 Most of the sexual activity/abuse wasn't explicitly on page, but the dub/non-con definitely was。 It's in the guise of yakuza debt, so there is definitely a dub, rather than pure non-con aspect。 And the MC who goes through it accept While I loved the main story of the book, the non-con and dub-con really wasn't necessary and I downgraded it for that reason。The story has a lot of violence, non-con and dub-con, and yakuza-related violence, with some historical child abuse and familial sexual abuse。 Most of the sexual activity/abuse wasn't explicitly on page, but the dub/non-con definitely was。 It's in the guise of yakuza debt, so there is definitely a dub, rather than pure non-con aspect。 And the MC who goes through it accepts it as a sacrifice worth making, kind of deal。I LOVED the romance between the two MC's。 The push-and-pull, the role-reversal personalities。 It was a bit geeky and silly, a little insta-love, but it was utterly sweet and lovely all the same。 I actually forgave this book for a lot of things, because the characters really shone through。 There's a lot of obscure morals, and a yakuza who bottoms, as well as a hot geek who is both gentle and strong。 It was a nice combination。 。。。more

Oh Lordy, I bought this one at the bookstore after seeing it online several times。 I actually really enjoyed it。 It wasn't the best one I've ever read, sure, and there were a few icky moments, but overall I really liked the characters and the plot development。 If you read yaoi or BL at all, you know that there are a LOT of tropes。 You've got the yakuza/Japanese mob tropes, the classic crossdressing tropes, the mistaken identity tropes, miscommunication。。。I could go on and on, but I'm tired and I Oh Lordy, I bought this one at the bookstore after seeing it online several times。 I actually really enjoyed it。 It wasn't the best one I've ever read, sure, and there were a few icky moments, but overall I really liked the characters and the plot development。 If you read yaoi or BL at all, you know that there are a LOT of tropes。 You've got the yakuza/Japanese mob tropes, the classic crossdressing tropes, the mistaken identity tropes, miscommunication。。。I could go on and on, but I'm tired and I definitely forgot to write the review for this after I finished it and now。。。it's been a few weeks。 SO。 Things that are important to note。 The main character is pretty solid with his sexual orientation, which I appreciated。 He doesn't often go "oh, but he's a man!" when he likes someone who is, um, a man。 He's got some past issues with another lover that aren't quite discussed or resolved, so I did wonder about those。 The new love interest is kind and sweet and also。。。uh, probably should have asked for consent before they had sex the first time considering the main character was drunk, but I have very clearly lost moral high ground reading this garbage, so yeah。 Anyway, there was some real trauma that was discussed in this, which I also appreciated。 The new lover's father was a horrible person, and you get some background on how he and the main character know each other。 Overall, I'm a fan of Scarlet Beriko's work and really enjoyed this one。 。。。more

Steamy。 Steamy。 I liked the dynamic of the couple as it wasn’t a usual seme and uke one。 Overall great little read。

Cute and sexy Very charming book, the two main characters have very cute personalities。 This does have rape in it, so be careful if that’s a trigger。

I never read one book from Jaclyn that I didn’t love with fierce。 And His Temptation doesn’t escape the rule。 Again, she brings us a world we can get lost, forget about everything wrong around us and makes us feel through amazing characters a whirlwind of emotions and even sensations。 I felt Emery’s pain more than once and Cason is one of the most interesting mix of a character I’ve seen from Jaclyn。 He’s a beautiful complexity with both his soft side as well as his domineering, confident side, I never read one book from Jaclyn that I didn’t love with fierce。 And His Temptation doesn’t escape the rule。 Again, she brings us a world we can get lost, forget about everything wrong around us and makes us feel through amazing characters a whirlwind of emotions and even sensations。 I felt Emery’s pain more than once and Cason is one of the most interesting mix of a character I’ve seen from Jaclyn。 He’s a beautiful complexity with both his soft side as well as his domineering, confident side, which is an explosive combination—it’s impossible NOT to fallllllllll for him so freaking deep。 I would have taken so much of their seduction period because its legit addicting。 and the connection between Cason and Emery is beyond palpable, its a mix of hotness and—of course, because we are talking about Jaclyn Osborn—and emotional, so well balanced, you cant put it down, all of her books are undeniable page flipper。 I love Jaclyn’s work and its not secret she’s my favorite MM author but that feeling always increases every single time I read her word。 She has a way to make you forget everything and just fall into another world that captivates, enlightens, seduces and addicts us instantly。 I can’t, like REALLY CANT WAIT for Jay’s story because holy hotness, that secondary character almost steals the show sometimes—just enough to make us crave his story but not enough to distract us from our steamy couple here—and I had so many crazy scenario going on in my mind for that character。 I can’t wait to discover Jaclyn’s, now。 Impatiently waiting for the next instalment of this extraordinary series。 Its a five stars read again and trust me, you never can go wrong with Jaclyn Osborn。 She NEVER disappoints。 Never。 In fact, she always exceeds my expectations。 I incredibly addicting and emotionally steamy。 。。。more
